Stay on the Trail first exhibited at the Hayward Shoreline Interpretive Center's art gallery. This series feature 15 paintings of local wildlife from the San Francisco South Bay Salt marshes and 4 interpretive panels. A habitat restoration project that started in the 1970s, the South Bay salt marshes is home to a large number of wildlife species from the native Pacific cordgrass to the endangered California clapper rail. Most of the wildlife in the exhibition can be spotted walking along the Bay Trail leading from the center but, in interest of preserving the Bay's ecosystem, visitors should observe from a distance and Stay on the Trail.
